A review on Iranian and world cinema box office for last weekend: Part 2

Ben Wheatley’s action/adventure ‘Meg 2: The Trench’ made its way on top of the cinema box office.

Ben Wheatley’s action/adventure ‘Meg 2: The Trench’ gained the greatest interest last weekend and made its mark on top of the cinema box office.

The film sold 84,514 tickets and ascended up the list of last weekend’s box office, forcing the preceding week’s favorite, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’, an Indian movie directed by Karan Johar, leave its top rank status and move to the second position on the list with 43,643 tickets sold.

During the same time span of August 4-6, Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’, in its 3rd week of screening, sold 32,636 tickets and claimed the third slot of the Dubai box office.

Here you can see the rest of the list based on the number of weeks the films have been released and their total and weekly sales success.

Iranian Box Office:

The box office results for the last week show that Karim Amini’s two best-selling comedy films maintained their positions on top of the Iranian box office list. However, compared to the same period of time in the week before, the percentage of the revenues for his ‘Lawless City’ were much higher than the ones for his ‘Fossil’.

Saman Salur’s social drama, ‘3 Puffs’, once again remained on the third spot of the box office; although, it did not sell as much tickets as its competitors on the list.

Stay tuned for more updates on both Iranian and foreign movies box offices in the coming weeks.
